Liberal Minute #56 – National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women

This episode of the Liberal Minute was filmed & produced on December 6th 2009 and is dedicated to the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the tragic shooting at the École Polytechnique in Montréal where 14 women were killed by a gunman. They all died because they were women.

This episode was filmed at the “Marker of Change” Women’s Monument which is located near the Main Street Skytrain station in Vancouver BC. This monument features 14 benches each of which commemorates the loss of life of each woman in that massacre.

Today marks an opportunity to take a moment of silence for those victims and for women everywhere who face violence around the world.

Liberal Minute #55 – Betty-Anne Juba Engaging the Not-For-Profit Community

A Liberal Minute with Jason Lamarche.

In this episode I speak with Betty-Anne Juba who is the policy chair for the federal riding of Vancouver Island North.

Betty-Anne has some great ideas on why the Liberal Party should engage the not-for-profit sector. Starting a dialogue with this community is beneficial because it will allow both the politicians and the volunteers to exchange their concerns, ideas, and solutions for how to build a stronger, more compassionate Canada. I think there is a lot of common ground between the Liberal Party and Volunteers since Pierre Trudeau defined the Canadian vision as a pursuit of a “Just Society”!

Enjoy!

A Liberal Minute with Jason Lamarche.

In this episode Liberal MP Dr. Carolyn Bennett reprimands the Conservative government for wasting $100 million dollars on useless partisan ads like those seen on Vancouver skytrains.

When it comes to spending “your” tax dollars the Harper government cares more about shameless self-promotion than about educating Canadians on the H1N1 pandemic.

Just one more thing to think about in the next federal election…

Enjoy!
